Kerry A. Kilburn was born in Houston, Texas on December 4, 1952, and was admitted
to the Louisiana Bar in 1982 and the Texas Bar in 1994. Mr. Kilburn is admitted to
practice before all state courts in both Louisiana and Texas, as well as the United States
Supreme Court, Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, all Federal District Courts in Louisiana
and the Federal District Court for the Southern District of Texas.
Mr Kilburn received a B.A. (with honors) from the University of Texas at Austin in
1978. He attended law school at Louisiana State University where he received a Juris
Doctor degree in 1982.
Mr. Kilburn is a member of the American Bar Association, Louisiana State Bar Association,
Lafayette Parish Bar Association, Texas State Bar Association, and the Houston Bar
Association.
Mr. Kilburn is a Certified Professional Landman and an active member of the American
Association of Professional Landmen, as well as the Lafayette, Houston, West Houston, and
Tulsa Associations of Professional Landmen.
He has served as an Assistant Bar Examiner for Code III (Contracts, Real Property and
Security Interests) for the Louisiana Supreme Court Committee on Bar Admissions. He
is the author of Dealing with the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality and
was a speaker on the subject before the Louisiana State Bar Association. He was also
the author and speaker for the National Business Institute on Foreclosure and
Bankruptcy in Louisiana. He is a frequent speaker before Landmen groups in
Louisiana, Texas, and Oklahoma involving 3D seismic data acquisition and legal issues
relating to oil and gas exploration and production. Mr. Kilburn's primary areas of
practice are Oil and Gas Law, Commercial Transactions including the acquisition and
financing of producing properties, Secured Creditor's Rights in Bankruptcy, Environmental
Law, and Litigation. |
