Michael D. Jones was born in Hettinger, North Dakota, on February 23, 1952, and
was admitted to the Illinois Bar in 1977 and the Texas Bar in 1980. Mr. Jones is
admitted to practice before all state courts in Illinois and Texas, as well as all U.S.
District courts in Texas, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, the Eleventh Circuit Court
of Appeals and the U.S. Supreme Court.
Mr. Jones received a B.A. (magna cum laude), from Shimer College in 1974, and his
Juris Doctor degree (cum laude) from the University of Illinois College of Law in
1977.
Mr. Jones is a member of the State Bar of Texas and the Houston Bar Association. He
has been Board Certified in Civil Trial Law and Oil, Gas and Mineral Law by the Texas
Board of Legal Specialization since 1992. Since 1991, Mr. Jones has been an Adjunct
Professor of Oil, Gas and Mineral Law at South Texas College of Law. In 1998, Mr.
Jones received the Professor Excellence Award for Adjunct Professors.
Mr. Jones' primary areas of practice are Oil, Gas and Mineral Law, Civil Litigation
(primarily Commercial and Oil and Gas), and Civil Appellate Law. |
